She has enjoyed astrophotography since 1986 and
has written articles about astronomy for the newspaper and the school systems.
She has mentored Junior Astronomy Clubs and has brought classrooms to her
backyard observatory.
Terry has been a member of the Miami Valley Astronomical
Society for 12 years. She has served as President, Vice President and advisor
to the MVAS junior group. In addition to serving as an officer she chaired
Apollo Rendezvous, the MVAS astronomy convention.
She is the recipient of the Astronomical League's
service award, the Kepler Award from the Miami Valley Astronomical Society
and an award from the Ohio House of Representatives for dedicated research
and study of the Solar System.
Terry was the Astronomical League Secretary from
1998 to 2001 and co-chair's the Astronomical League's award program. This
included the National Young Astronomer Award ( NYAA ), the Horkheimer Award
and the Mabel Sterns Award.
Her memberships include American Astronomical
Society, Astronomical League, Astronomical Society of the Pacific, Association
of Lunar and Planetary Observers, The International Dark Sky Association
and the Miami Valley Astronomical Society.
In 2002 Terry was elected to the office of Vice-President
of the Astronomical League. She is the LeagueÆs representative
for the Pro-Am Collaboration. She also chairs the Operations Committee
for the ISS-AT. This project started in 2001 with the goal of placing a
telescope on the International Space Station.
She is Vice Chair of the Great Lakes Region of
the Astronomical League and serves as a JPL Solar System Ambassador
responsible for informing the public of deep space missions through talks
and demonstrations.
Her astrophotography has been featured on the
local news and Terry was a featured artist at the Eaton Art Center and
has work on display at the Boonshoft Museum of Discovery.
